Application Deadline: postmarked June 10, 2008 Welcome: The Visual Arts Committee of the Mountain Home Arts Council is presenting the 2nd Annual Three Island Crossing Art Show, August 8-9, 2008 at Carmela Winery in Glenns Ferry, Idaho. The art show is a juried fine art and folk art show held in conjunction with the 23rd Annual Re-enactment of the Oregon Trail Three Island Crossing. The show will benefit visual artist programs associated with the Mountain Home Arts Council. Dates/Times: Friday, Aug 8th, 2 – 6 pmSaturday, Aug 9th, 10 – 5 pmLocation: Carmela Winery is located next to the Three Island State Park in Glenns Ferry, Idaho. With beautiful lawns overlooking vineyards, a golf course, and the bluffs of the Snake River, you have a magnificent setting for the art show. Each year in August, the Three Island State Park and Interpretive Center hosts the re-enactment of the Oregon Trail river crossing by driving wagons across the Snake River ford at Three Island Crossing. Additional vendors and re-enactors with old west themes setup in the state park. The re-enactment serves to preserve and perpetuate an accurate portrayal of pioneer and Native American Cultures, Heritage, History and relationships. It promotes a bonding of the various western cultures through preservation of the historical and educational aspects of the Oregon Trail, Three Island Crossing, Three Island State Park and the Interpretive Center. People come from all over the world to see and participate in this event, which draws a crowd of 2,000-3,000.Promotion of Three Island Crossing Art Show: Advertising will be incorporated into The Three Island Crossing Reenactment advertising, which includes the Idaho Statesman, the Twin Falls Times News, local town newspapers, posters, flyers, radio, and television. In Glenns Ferry, banners and directional signs will be posted for the Art Show and the Re-enactment. Space is limited to approximately 30 artists and will represent a variety of fine art and folk art media. Artist must be present with their work both days. Representatives may not attend in place of the artist.Acceptable Work: Only original work made by the artist is acceptable. No commercial, no kits, no mass produced items, no re-sale, nor work done under the supervision of an instructor are permitted. You may sell reproductions of your paintings or drawings. All work displayed must be for sale.Jury Requirements: Four to six photos labeled with the number and your name on the back. Submitted images must be representative of your work. An additional photo of your booth setup is mandatory. If you do not have booth image, submit an image taken of a grouping of your work representative of what you intend to exhibit. Note: please do NOT submit an image with any identifiable sign, name, or photo of the artist. Photos are not to exceed 4x6”.Booth Space: Booths are located indoors and outdoors at Carmela Winery in Glenns Ferry. A outside booth space is 10x10 feet, within a 12x12 area. We may have a limited number of 10x15 or 10x20 booths available. Inside booth space is slightly smaller. There is no power outside. You are responsible for bringing your own set up, including easels, display panels, tables, drapes, chairs, etc that you need for your display. There are a very limited number of indoor booths for those artists who need that. Booths requests will be honored if possible on a first come, first served basis. Be prepared for wind. Note: we will have a 20x40 canopy available if an artist is outside and does not have their own tent.Fees:Two checks made payable to MHAC – VAC as follows:1. Non-refundable jury fee of $10 (fee waived for juried artist members of the Mtn Home Visual Artist Committee [VAC]).2. Booth fee: VAC members: $35,Non-members: $50 is for a 10x10 boothIf you need more space, we’ll do our best to accommodate you, and the fee will be adjusted proportionatelyRefund Policy:If you are unable to attend, you may receive a full refund up to July 10, 2008. After July 10th, there are no refunds.Sales: All work must be clearly identified and labeled with sale price. Artists will collect and pay Idaho State Sales Tax of 6%. If you do not have an Idaho Sales Permit, a temporary one will be provided as part of your registration.A 10% commission will be charged on the artist’s first $1,000 in sales. After that, there is no commission. At the close of the show, you must provide a copy of sales to show organizers and pay your commission.Security/Liability: A security person will be present overnight on Friday. All reasonable care will be given to the art objects and displays. However, art works and displays set up by the artist are done so at the artist’s risk. It is the artist’s responsibility to provide insurance against damage or loss.Events:· Three Island Crossing Art Show, at Carmela Winery, Friday, 2-6pm· The Three Island Crossing Re-Enactment, Opening Parade, Friday evening. 7pm – 8 pm. Parade begins at the Fairgrounds and proceeds through town, past Carmela Winery to the Three Island Crossing State Park· Three Island Crossing Pancake Breakfast in the Park, Saturday morning, approx. 7am.· Three Island Crossing Re-enactment at the Park, Saturday, 11 am.· Three Island Crossing Art Show, at Carmela Winery Saturday, 10-5pm· Carmela Winery will offer food/beverages for purchase during the Art Show. Full menu dining is available in the Winery Restaurant.· Public admission to art show is free.Accommodations: local accommodations are limited in Glenns Ferry. Nearest towns are Mountain Home (25 miles) and Bliss (20 miles).
