GLENNS FERRY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE NEWSLETTER

July 2008

ACTIVITIES UPDATE:  The Bob Mullen’s Memorial Golf Tournament was very successful this year.  There were 72 golfers who played.  Thanks for all of your support.  4th of July events were also very successful.  The parade was probably the biggest yet.  Winners were Kip Assendrup (equestrian); Campbell Tractor (floats); Dustin Fink (vintage autos); Opera Theater (Commercial); and Talli Crone won the kids/bike division.  If you haven’t noticed there are many changes going on in Glenns Ferry.  Our Revitalization Committee is really doing a great job with new benches in place, the old livery stable painted and lettering and a mural added.  Fred Choate redid his painting on the Penner and Fink building and flowers are being planted by the Glenns Ferry Welcome Sign.  A walking path is in the planning stages and will eventually run from the State Park into town.  We need everyone to get involved and help.

UPCOMING ACTIVITIES:  Monthly meetings:  5 August at the Oregon Trail Café - 9 September at 10:30 at the Senior Center – 7 October at the VFW Hall (order lunch from the STOP).

August 3rd is our annual Chamber Golf Tournament.  This is our only fundraiser of the year and we need your support.  Hole sponsorships are $25 and can be mailed to the Chamber, PO Box 317.  If you want to play or have questions call Dale Smith (366-2710 or 590-4171).

The Elmore County Fair is 14-19 July.  The Elmore County Rodeo is 25 & 26 July.

August 9th is the 23rd Annual Three Island Crossing honoring Roy Allen.  The time of the Crossing is 11:00 AM

.

September 16th is the Quarterly Blood Drive from 1:00 – 6:00 PM at the VFW Hall.

September 26, 2009 is the Glenns Ferry Centennial Celebration so spread the word and start planning ahead.

PRESIDENT’S COMMENTS:  Glenns Ferry, you did it again.  Revitalization is turning up the heat.  The murals are just the right addition and the Chamber Office at Pioneer Square has been spruced up even further by the wagon wheel bench and new flower planter from Lour Howard.  Than you all.  I’ve already seen increases in our pedestrian traffic in the downtown area.  And lastly, thanks to all who planned and participated in a great 4th of July parade and park activities.
