Welcome to the River Ranch Retreat!  Enjoy a country experience along the Snake River located 75 miles east of Boise and 50 miles west of Twin Falls (4 miles east of Glenns Ferry and 1 mile west of King Hill on old Highway 30).   This is a great spot for relaxing, birding, walking and many other activities.  All within 50 miles are mountains, canyons, fossil beds (with interpretive center), sand dunes, hot springs, golf courses, wineries, an Oregon Trail interpretive center and even an astrological observatory.  More possibilities include hiking, biking, horseback riding, fishing, hunting, boating, and floating,

There are two buildings to choose from.  The Guest House which is larger and can accommodate 4 adults and a child or two, and The Cabin which can accommodate 2 adults (one queen size bed) and perhaps one child.  Both are quaint, colorful and cozy.  The Snake River is right out the door and you can walk along the river, enjoy  wildlife and lovely views of the river.    Stop and sit on one of the many rustic benches  around the ranch…bring your binoculars and cameras!  There is also a rock fire pit and benches  for a cookout or just an evening of good conversation and fun.

To view photos and find out more about the area and the River Ranch, please see the website:  riverranchretreat.net.

The Guest House  has two bedrooms (one with a queen size bed and a twin and the other with two twin beds), a sunroom, one bathroom, a living room, dining room (with a table that can seat 8 people) and a kitchen fully stocked with cookware, serving dishes and table settings.  It also has a TV and a CD player.  but at this time we do not have internet. A large patio has plenty of outdoor furniture  for a get together!  $105 per couple, plus tax.

The Cabin has a porch with a wonderful view of the Snake River.  It is one room, with a queen size bed, a sofa, a kitchen table that can seat 5, a colorful kitchen equipped with cooking, serving and table dishes.  The bathroom has a shower, no tub.  At this time it does not have a TV, CD player, or internet.  $95 per couple, plus tax.

I consider myself a “mid-road conservationist”, seeking to preserve and conserve with my camera, portraying often-fading life scenes & the natural beauty of my surroundings. I work in 35 mm & medium format, creating images using only natural light. I have captured the dusty excitement of local rodeos, life of Basque sheepherders, nature’s unexpected beauty in the lines, patterns & shadows of this rugged land, & the flowers that offset the harshness. I try to record the often fleeting essence of Nature’s drama that exists in those brief moments of “perfect light” & present the beauty of western life around us, helping all of us to see its truth before it is gone. I also do my own custom matting & hand-craft my frames for a one-of-a-kind presentation that makes the framing part of the art. My finished & framed pieces are printed & matted with archival materials & U.V. protected glass.
